The country is chock full of tourist places, popular for their cultural significance, natural beauty, adventure activities or a mix of everything. But to cover each of these famous tourist places in India would take years, and not every destination can turn out as you expected it. Agra
Agra is more popularly known as the home of the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum that most people instantly picture in their mind when they think of India. And while the Taj Mahal is definitely one of the main reasons for making Agra a famous tourist destination, it is not the only one.
An Agra tour feels like an experience of India's Mughal period. The seat of the Mughal Empire for over 300 years, the town by the River Yamuna is one of the most historical and culturally-enriched places to visit in India. Besides, the omnipresent Mughal architecture and not to forget the heavenly Taj Mahal, Agra has a name for its fascinating tales, marble-carvings, delightful food- espcailly the mouth-watering pethas (sweets), colourful festivals, and so much more.
Amritsar
This is the spiritual capital of Sikhism, with the center of the magnificent Golden Temple, known locally as the Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara.Amritsar is also famous for its culinary delights, topped with the legendary hospitality of the people of Punjab.

Nainital
Nainital is the quintessential hill resort.It is a busy hill station complete with dozens of hotels around the volcanic leak and a bustling bazaar. This is possibly the most famous hill station too, with hundreds of families and couples coming into the valley on the foot of the Himalayas to enjoy the scenic views and boat rides on the lake.It is a great place to sit back, relax and take in the majesty of India’s mountains without overwhelming yourself.
Nainital is an idyllic town in the state of Uttarakhand and is located on the Kumaon region of the outer Himalayan range. The scenic beauty and natural charm of the place adds to its charm. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and offers a great view of the snow capped mountain ranges.
Nainital in Uttarakhand is situated at an altitude of 2084 meters. Due to its high altitude, the hill station experiences a cool climate all over the year. The summer months are cool and pleasant while the winter months are chilly. The town receives snowfall between the months of December and February.
Ooty
Ooty, like Nainital, is another of India’s hill stations that started off as a little town but hit it off, becoming a major tourist center. As such, it can be a little too crowded during its peak seasons for those who prefer a little more peace and quiet.
Ooty in the Southern Indian State of Karnataka is fondly called the "Queen of hill stations". Named among the most beautiful places in India, Ooty is set picturesquely in the Nilgiris, called the "Blue Mountains" of India. Situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level, Ooty enjoys pleasant weather year-long. Formerly it used to be popular summer getaway during the British Raj and now too is one of the most preferred holiday destinations in the South. Jaipur

Shimla is now one of the most popular hill stations of India and also the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Given its popularity, the town is packed with tourists. Shimla hill station is still the colonial summer capital (resort) to which British used to retreat in when heat of Indio-Gangetic plains used to become unbearable.
